About Marisol


Marisol Ortega is a bilingual strategic communications professional with a background in journalism and public relations. She currently works in the nonprofit sector as a communications & marketing coordinator, where she supports marketing, brand management, digital communications and community engagement efforts for the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos in North County San Diego.

Prior to joining the Boys & Girls Club movement in August 2023, she worked as a public relations intern at a Phoenix, Arizona-based PR agency that worked with clients in the telecommunications, community health, automotive and legal industries.

She is a proud Arizona State Sun Devil, where she earned a B.A. in journalism and mass communication, along with a minor in film and media studies and a distinction from Barrett, The Honors College. In her time as a student, she worked as a writer and social media manager for Arizona State University Educational Outreach and Student Services Marketing. She was also active with the ASU’s National Association of Hispanic Journalists student chapter, serving as chapter president her final year.

She currently volunteers as an associate board member of PRSA San Diego & Imperial Counties.

Marisol enjoys learning and writing about culture: especially food, travel, and film & television. She is an avid bookworm and enjoys activities that keep her active and creative.
